Eco-Yurt Montana
The Eco Yurt
The Eco-Yurt is a one of a kind, truly handcrafted, affordable custom yurt found only at Shelter Designs. We know you will appreciate the extra love and attention that goes into this small yurt kit.
Small diameter round lodgepole pine are used for the rafters and snow and wind legs, giving this sustainable yurt a rustic, western, log cabin feel. By using this small diameter lodgepole strategically thinned from a regenerating forest, we ensure that the ecological footprint of our frames stays within our watershed. This also bolsters the local economy and keeps us connected to the forest we call home.
After carefully selecting only the finest quality wood available, we handcraft each individual yurt frame as it is ordered. Production times are a little longer on a sustainable Eco-Yurt, but you can’t rush craftsmanship! Beautiful, hand finished lodgepole pine roof rafters and snow and wind legs and non-toxic, no-VOC (volatile organic compounds) finish are the main features setting this yurt in a class of its own. Please note that 30’ is the largest diameter available in the Eco-Yurt.

After owning a few different yurt brands, I purchased my first Shelter Designs Yurt in 2009, with a second one last year and a third on its way soon! Sitting at 9000ft on the South Face of Lone Peak, my 30' Eco Yurt has held strong through a decade of heavy snow, intense sun, and wild winds. The team at Shelter Designs take pride in their yurts and make sure I am always taken care of.Kevin Daily, Montana Backcountry Adventures
